Looking for ideas on how to celebrate Music Therapy Week with your clients or at your facility? Here are some great ideas:
- Place a flyer about music therapy in the lounge at your workplace
- Put on a celebratory breakfast or a lunch for staff
- Wear your Music Therapy sparkle pin all week
- Put information about music therapy on a bulletin board at your facility
- Write to your legislator and let him or her know about music therapy
- Write a feature on music therapy to be included in your facility or practice newsletter
- Call your local paper and let them know about Michigan Music Therapy Week
- Write a memo or e-mail to co-workers about music therapy
- Offer a staff inservice to help folks get a better understanding about music therapy
- Talk to high school students about music therapy as a career
- Post a flyer about music therapy at your local music store
- Take out a freebie ad or notice that could highlight music therapy (i.e. Craigslist, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, MySpace etc.)
- Share a video or article featuring music therapy with your colleagues (recent articles can be found at the AMTA Website)
- Offer music and relaxation sessions to staff during lunch hours
- Be creative and have fun! Just let people know about music therapy!
