Michigan Music Therapy
Music Therapy is…
The clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program.
Music therapy is an established health profession in which music is used within a therapeutic relationship to address physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs of individuals (American Music Therapy Association, 2021).
Who are we?
Michigan Music Therapy (MMT) is a state organization of music therapists as a part of The Great Lake Region of Music Therapy. We have two universities offering a degree in music therapy, and thousands of individuals who receive music therapy services.
Our vision states that as stewards to our state, we strive with integrity to provide timely and relevant resources to support our members through education, service, and advocacy in Michigan.
Our mission is to advance and support the mission of AMTA (advance public awareness of the benefits of music therapy and increase access to quality music therapy services in a rapidly changing world) on the state level and to serve MMT members.
